Rate Study

Midway Heights has begun work with LT Municipal Consultants on a rate study. Public utility districts must follow strict rules to ensure that services are offered at the minimum cost to the customer, rates are fair and equitable, and rate increases must follow a special process. That process is dictated by Proposition 218, a California constitutional amendment passed by voters in November 1996 that limits how local governments raise water rates.

The last time Midway Heights conducted a rate study was in 2018, which included a 5-year rate plan with the last increase on July 1, 2023. Rates have not changed for the last three years. Addressing deferred maintenance for an aging infrastructure was a factor in that rate discussion, and it remains a critical issue today. In the interest of transparency and open communication, the District is inviting customer involvement early and often in the rate study process.

OPEN HOUSE HOURS

While customers are always welcome, our office hours are inconsistent due to limited, part-time staffing. So the following times are “open house” opportunities to drop by the District office, have a free snack, and share your thoughts and concerns.

Mon, Sep 21 – 9:00 to 11:00am
Fri, Oct 9 – 8:00 to 10:00am
